Smart materials for athletic performance

2024 Olympics – Carnot MICA Committed to Athletic Performance
The Carnot MICA, in partnership with Carnot STAR, is committed alongside the sports and industrial world to tackling a major challenge: the preparation of French athletes ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. As part of the Sport / Health Alliance, the MICA team visited the campus of INSEP (National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance) in Paris in order to identify areas of collaboration between research, smart materials and sports performance.

Collaboration between Carnot MICA and INSEP to boost athletes’ performance
Within INSEP, elite teams benefit from comprehensive scientific support: physiological monitoring, digital coaching, performance optimization and injury prevention. Carnot MICA brings its expertise in smart materials: sensors integrated into equipment, innovative recovery systems or optimized surfaces to improve athlete safety and performance. This technology transfer illustrates the added value of collaborative research.
Smart materials and advanced technologies in the service of the 2024 Olympic Games
The innovation driven by smart materials for sports performance is rooted in the industrial sector, with the design of high-precision equipment. It also encompasses mobility (speed, aerodynamics) and health and well-being (recovery, comfort). By bringing together research, sport and industry, Carnot MICA demonstrates how its expertise in smart materials concretely contributes to pushing the boundaries of French performance.
