New technique to create electrically conductive smart textiles

Carnot MICA has just validated an all-new technique to create electrically conductive smart textiles.

This is mainly made possible by the use of laser technology. Drawing on their highly specialised expertise, IFTH, ICS and IREPA LASER were able to create conductive tracks. Causing no degradation to the different textile substrates, the metal was selectively deposited using laser technology. Implemented for the first time ever, this technique allowed them to create fabrics that can respond to electric currents. MICA’s experts also obtained a much higher level of conductivity than with traditional methods. These methods require the use of much costlier silver particles and often use aluminium to build the circuits.
